Learned how to get back into my blog after a year.

I've not been able to get back in my blog for over a year. Tony and Jaylin helped me get back on line. There has been little time to figure the problem out but with their help me get back on I'll try to catch up. But for now I'llstart with today and go back as I have time.

It is Sunday afternoon July 24 and it is HOT in TEXAS ! But can't complain . We have nice air conditioned apartment and car and mission office. I'm spoiled. The poor young Missionaries are out in this heat everyday on bikes. I don't know how they do it. They just put their faith in the Lord and do what they are asked to do. We are still loving the work. If it weren't for family and friends we would stay on a mission forever.

I told the grand kids a story of a skunk at the Mission Office in their letters. So that is the first thing we are to see and talk about. Hope I can remember how to get videos on the blog?

We arrived at the Mission Office one rainy day (One is the right word we have had only one rainy day this summer so far). As we pulled up and parked I noticed something on the lawn moving. I first thought it was a cat but second look I see that it was black and white and a big fluffy tail. We watch it pace around the lawn in front of the Mission Office.

At first we thought maybe it sick and even rabid because it was acting so peculiar. Then it came over by the front step and started digging and disappeared under the step. We waited a while and when she did not reappear we decided it was safe to go inside.

It was pouring down rain and I was watching the storm. I decided to call Sister Hoskisson and let her know it might be best to come in another door in case the skunk would decide to reappear. But before I got her called she came running and made it in just fine. I was telling her what we had seen. As we were talking the skunk came out from under the step soaking wet. She proceeds to shake and scratch and dry her self off. But would not leave. Just kept pace back and forth. We decided she must have babies under the step and they were going to drown if they hadn't already.

I have may camera in the office so decide to film her. As you watch she goes back and forth trying to figure out how to get back to them. Then she takes the big step of going back in the hole of water. After a few minuets we could see her backing out of the hole of water with a baby in her mouth. I thought for sure it was bead but I could hear the baby squealing. She come up on the step put it down for just a second picked it back up and off she went. We are not sure where she went.It looked like she went to the fenced in area where the mechanical equipment is for the meeting house. We called animal control and they brought out a trap but never did catch her . We were glad She was such a courageous mother and protector. She just needs to find a better place for home and family.
